2015 Invitational Golf Tournament
2015 SCMA Invitational Golf Tournament is fast approaching. It will be held on August 1, 2015 at El Prado Golf Course. It will follow the four person best ball scramble format.

SCMA Treasurer Berwyn Salazar Awarded Samsung Note Tablets to SCMA Scholars Herbie Olitoquit and Caitline Perez in simple ceremonies at Mapua Intramuros campus witnessed by Ms. Eira Camus and Kath Quinto of MIT last May 2014.
SCMA Awards Netbooks to MIT Scholars - SCMA's Treasurer, Mr. Berwyn Salazar, was in Manila last June 2013 and awarded netbooks to SCMA's new scholar Kevin Almoro (L)and newly graduated scholar Lamberto Marcial, Jr. (R) who has passed the recently concluded Civil Engineer board exam in flying colors as 4th placer.
SCMA Scholars Lorenz Lugatiman (6th placer) and Fernando Reyes (11th placer) also passed the CE board exams.
SCMA Awards 2 New Scholarship Grants to Deserving MIT Students - SCMA Treasurer Mr. Berwyn Salazar was recently in Manila last June 7, 2013 to award scholarship grants to two outstanding Mapuan students - Caitline Perez (L) and Herbie Jeff Olitoquit (R) in simple ceremonies held at the conference room at Mapua's Intramuros Manila campus.Both students are taking up Civil Engineering and were selected among applicants that were recommended by Mapua's Center for Scholarship and Financial Assistance.

Almost 400 alumni, spouses and guests attended the
2013 MapuaWorld Convention and Grand Reunion in Honolulu, Hawaii
which was hosted by Hawaii Association of Mapua Alumni (HAMA). California was well-represented with 37 delegates, most
of them coming from Southern California. The
theme of this convention was "Achieving Success Through Unity among Mapuans." It
was a 4-day, fun-filled activities from Thursday, March 14 to Sunday, March 17.
The week started with the Meet and Greet on
Thursday which was exclusively for alumni and their spouses in their Hawaiian
attire. The activities for the night included:
buffet and dancing; Mapua World Commission meeting where the chapter
representatives discussed and voted for
the venue of MapuaWorld 2017 and a new activity initiated by HAMA for MapuaWorld: groups were formed
according to Course and each group discussed ways to improve MapuaWorld
gatherings and the spokesperson for each group presented the group's
Friday was the Island Tour and Golf Tournament. Two
buses were filled for the all-day tour of Oahu that included stops at the Dole
Plantation and other landmarks and ended at the Polynesian
where the group had the best dining experience in Honolulu,
the Ali'i Luau. After dinner, the group watched the evening show "Ha: Breath of
Life, A Story of Passion "ignited by fire, song and dance". The avid golf players participated in the Golf
Tournament at the Golf Course in Kapolei,
Hawaii. Tony Ballesteros and
Cecille Lopez-Brod, Immediate Past President and Recording Secretary,
respectively, represented SCMA.
Saturday was a day filled with activities: Technical
Seminar in the morning followed by the tour of FILCOM Center,
Honouliuli Waste Water Treatment
Plant, Ewa Water Recycling Plant and H-Power Plant with a stop at Kambingan
Restaurant for lunch. The gala night was held at Ala Moana Hotel with Dr.
Reynaldo Vea as the guest speaker. His inspirational speech included his "special
thank you" to SCMA for their support of Mapua's representatives who came to the U.S.
to hold forums on "Studying at Mapua". As with every MapuaWorld event, there
were presentations from the various NAMA chapters. Except for Texas
and Hawaii, SCMA and two of the Canadian
and Vancouver, presented surprise numbers: Psy's Gangnam Style Dance. Each
group of dancers had a different version. That was too funny!
The picnic on Sunday was held at Ala Moana Beach, Honolulu, HI.
The food was catered by Kambingan Restaurant owned by Lito Alcantara, CE'60.
MapuaWorld 2015 will be held in Sydney,
Australia to be hosted by
Mapua Alumni Australia (MAA) and MapuaWorld 2017 will be held in Manila.
SCMA's 36th Dinner Dance and Induction of Officers was held last February 9, 2013 at the Holiday Inn Select in La Mirada, CA .Our newly elected president Mr. Joey Uy delivered his welcome address and his plans for the next two years in a short but meaningful speech. Everyone had a blast and danced the night away after a sumptuous dinner.
Mapua Institute of Technology and SCMA co-presented a Forum on Studying at Mapua Institute of Technology, Manila, Philippines. Ms. Mary Jane Casumbal, Director of Admission and Scholarships, was the speaker at the forum which was held last February 16 at the Carson Civic Center.
